Attack on Titan: Who are the Nine Titans?

One of the most beloved shonen anime, Attack on Titan Season 4 returns concludes with episode 28 (the series finale) ”The Dawn of Humanity” on Sunday, April 3, 2022. It is finally coming to an end nearly a decade after the series first debuted in 2013. We’ll be left with only a few more anime episodes.

AOT is an exciting series mainly because of its wide array of characters, especially Titan Shifters with distinct powers. The Nine Titans are basically Nine Titan powers that were passed on throughout the royal family of Fritz for more than 2000 years after the death of Ymir Fritz. Here, let’s jump into all the nine Titans, who have each played a key role throughout the plot.

1. The Founding Titan – Frieda Reiss

One of the most powerful and legendary Titans of all and the first of all Titans. For generations, the Founding Titan was used by members of the Fritz family. The Founding Titan's owner is capable of using their screams to control other Titans as well as possesses several abilities, including memory alteration, and telepathic communication. However, only families with royal blood can use the power of Founding Titan to its fullest. Like the families Fritz and Riess.

2. The Armored Titan – Reiner Braun

This defensive Titan is one of the hardest Titans to kill in the anime. Coered by hardened armor-like skin, except in key areas necessary for movement, this titan specializes in hardening, protecting it from most kinds of direct impact. If it charges in at full speed, the gates of any wall will crumble with one or two attacks at most. The phrase “The Best Defense is Offense” is also befitting of the armored titan.

3. The Attack Titan - Eren Yeager

Attack on Titan gets its name from this titan, which Eren inherits in the very first season. When Eren first realized that he inherited the Attack Titan, he helped his comrades and became one of the most important members of the Survey Corps. This Titan can receive memories from both past and future inheritors of the Titan. Guided by these memories, it always moves ahead, fighting for justice and freedom.

4. The Beast Titan – Zeke Yeager

Taking on a beast-like appearance, this Titan is slightly larger than most and manifests other animals that depend upon the user. Due to his royal blood, Zeke’s Beast Titan held the ability to turn the subjects of Ymir into Titans. The Beast Titan's most powerful combat ability is its destructive throwing capabilities, but other than that, all it can do is harden its skin.

5. The Cart Titan – Pieck Finger

A small quadrupedal Titan with amazing endurance, allowing it to maintain its Titan form for extended periods, and the user can transform in rapid successions without needing to rest, making it ideal to carry cargo and weapons equipment. The Marley soldiers use the Cart Titan on their mission due to their ability to carry supplies and battle armors for them.

6. The Colossal Titan – Armin Arlert The Colossal

The Colossal Titan is the biggest titan among the others, which also known as the “God of Destruction”. this titan is also the early main antagonist of the Attack on Titan series. The Colossal Titan is tall enough to peek over the top of the Walls. This Titan’s prime ability is to emerge the hottest steam from his body that can burn anything on this path. It can create an explosion that could destroy many Survey Corps soldiers in an instant.

7. The Female Titan – Annie Leonhart

Annie's Female Titan looks considerably more human than the rest of the nine, explaining the reasoning behind her name. The Female Titan is a classic all-rounder with high endurance and mobility. This Titan can harden specific body parts for protection. This titan is also able in every field and can attract nearby Pure Titans by screaming as well as absorbing abilities from the other eight.

8. The Jaw Titan – Falco Grice

The Jaw Titan is the smallest and fastest among all of the Titans. It uses its jaws and claws to fight against the enemies. These Jaws are bulletproof, and they are capable of breaking through just about anything. It can move fast enough to catch some of the Nine off-guard. Also, Flaco’s Jaw Titan has the ability to sprout wings and a tail, allowing it to take flight whilst carrying people on its body.

9. The War Hammer Titan – Lara Tybur

The last of the Nine Titans to appear in the anime was the War Hammer Titan, only being shown in the manga and the trailer for season four of the show. The titan can materialize weapons and construct structures that are made of hardened Titan flesh. The Tybur family controlled this Titan for years and was hidden from people. After Eren discovered the current inheritor, he decided to eat the user to increase his power.
